Billy Thornton

Billy is a compassionate and experienced counselor who desires to walk beside those he serves, offering the same support Christ provides through the process of healing. With a deep belief in the transformative power of the therapeutic relationship, he creates a safe and supportive environment for individuals, couples, and families to explore and heal. His holistic approach integrates spiritual, mental, emotional, and relational dynamics, helping clients uncover underlying stressors that impact daily functioning and relationships. Through this process, he strives to bring both inner peace and relational restoration.

Specializing in bridging Christ-centered principles with evidence-based mental health counseling, Billy tailors his approach to each client’s personal convictions. He offers services for adolescents, adults, couples, and families who are struggling with anxiety, depression, OCD, grief, trauma, PTSD, relational issues, and sexual addiction.

He is well-trained in several therapeutic modalities, including Gottman Method Couples Therapy (Levels 1 and 2), SYMBIS and Prepared and Enriched for pre-marital counseling, Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) for trauma, and is a Certified Sex Addiction Therapist (CSAT). He has extensive experience helping individuals and couples process trauma and navigate the challenges of sexual addiction.

In addition to his counseling work, Billy has served in the local church for over 16 years and as a professor at Southeastern Bible College (SEBC) for 7 years. He is an ordained minister and a former student minister, bringing a unique blend of spiritual and psychological insight to his work with clients.

Beth Ann Wilbur

MS, NCC, LPC Gottman Level 1 Trained

Beth Ann is a Licensed Professional Counselor and a former military spouse who served in various support organizations throughout the United States Marine Corps. Her experiences in these roles exposed her to a wide range of cultures and life situations, ultimately inspiring her to pursue a career in counseling.

Beth Ann started Triune with several years of experience in forensic inpatient mental health and non-profit practice. Her work focuses on helping clients understand and navigate life’s challenges through compassionate, evidence-based care.

She is trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and utilizes a variety of therapeutic modalities to meet the unique needs of her clients. While she draws from clinical approaches, Beth Ann believes that true healing comes from God and integrates this belief into her work when appropriate.

Beth Ann holds a Master of Science in Professional Counseling with an emphasis in Trauma from Grand Canyon University and a Bachelor of Science in Interiors and Housing from Auburn University.


Ryan Gaines

MDIV, MA, NCC, ALC, Gottman Level 1 Trained

Ryan is an Associate Licensed Counselor dedicated to helping children, adolescents, and adults navigate the challenges of life. Prior to beginning a professional counseling career, he served as an ordained minister for over a decade in the local church. He takes a holistic approach with clients that considers all dimensions of personhood, including biology, psychology, and spirituality. He is passionate about establishing a collaborative therapeutic relationship with his clients that honors their personal values while utilizing evidenced-based clinical mental health practices and integrating Christ-centered principles. His therapeutic process typically utilizes cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) methods and mindfulness strategies, but he adapts his approach with each client to help them reach their goals in counseling. He is under the clinical supervision of Kelly S. Arant, LPC-S. 

Ryan received his master’s degree in clinical mental health counseling from Liberty University and has walked alongside individuals struggling with anxiety, depression, grief, trauma, anger management, and significant life stressors. He has additional training and experience in marital and pre-marital counseling because he loves to work with couples as they navigate the challenges of relationships. He uses child-centered play therapy methods with children to foster a safe and supportive environment that encourages emotional processing and regulation. 

Ryan and his wife have been married for 12 years and are proud parents of two young boys. They have lived in the Birmingham area for 15 years.
